LayerPod Privacy Policy
Version 1, published October 16, 2026
Starter draft for legal review, not legal advice. Text in [brackets] needs your details or your lawyer's decision before it is published.
Who we are
LayerPod is operated by [Layerpod, LLC] ("LayerPod", "we"). This policy explains what we collect and why when you visit layerpod.com, use the LayerPod portal at app.layerpod.com, or buy from a store powered by LayerPod.
It covers three groups of people:
- Account holders: anyone with a LayerPod account, including creators, merchants, wholesale buyers, printing partners and any account types we add later.
- Store buyers: people who order from a store powered by LayerPod.
- Visitors: anyone browsing layerpod.com or a LayerPod store.
Questions go to [privacy@layerpod.com].
Information we collect
| Who | What we collect | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Account holders | Name, email, business name, password (stored hashed), two-factor settings, plan, what you sell | You, at signup and in Settings |
| Account holders | Postal address and phone, stored encrypted; company and tax details for business accounts | You, when accepting your account agreement and in Settings |
| Creators | Public maker profile addresses (e.g. MakerWorld, Printables) and verification status | You, or added by us with your permission |
| Account holders | Payout and billing details: the method and the account handle or email for it; card and bank details are held by our payment provider, not by us | You, in Wallet |
| Account holders | Products, images, model files, descriptions, prices, filament weight and print time | You, or imported by us at your request |
| Account holders | Sign-in history, IP address, browser, and actions in the portal | Collected automatically, for security and support |
| Account holders | Support messages and attachments | You |
| Store buyers | Name, shipping address, email, phone, order contents and amounts | The store at checkout, to make and ship the order |
| Store buyers | Scrambled fingerprints (keyed hashes) of email, phone, address and payment name, never the details themselves | The store, to detect account holders ordering from their own store |
| Visitors | Pages viewed, products viewed, cart and checkout steps, searches, referrer and campaign tags, device type, browser, country and region | Our first-party analytics on layerpod.com and stores |
| Visitors | IP address and request details on suspicious requests (e.g. probes, failed logins) | Security logging on stores and the portal |
| Waitlist sign-ups | [Name, business name, email, the pages or services you asked about (each one you join from is added to the same entry), what you sell and who referred you if you tell us, a designer profile address if you give one, and the IP address you signed up from] | [You, on a waitlist form on layerpod.com or the portal] |
We do not collect payment card numbers. Payments on stores are handled by [PayPal / payment provider], under their own privacy policy.
How we use information
- Run your account, stores and products, and print, pack and ship orders, ourselves or through printing partners.
- Calculate earnings and charges, and prepare statements, invoices and payouts.
- Verify accounts and maker profiles, and protect the designs on LayerPod.
- Show account holders and us analytics about their stores and sales.
- Detect fraud, abuse and attacks, including orders placed by an account holder on their own store.
- Generate product descriptions when you use "Write with AI" (only the product details you provide are sent).
- Send account, security, order and payout emails, and portal messages. Announcements follow your inbox settings.
- [Tell waitlist sign-ups when the service they asked about opens, and invite them to it.]
- Meet legal, tax and accounting obligations, such as payout tax forms.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for advertising profiles. [Lawyer: confirm wording for "sell" and "share" under California law.]
Cookies, analytics and tracking
Our analytics are our own and use no third-party advertising trackers.
- No analytics cookies by default. A random visitor ID that changes every day lets us count visits without recognising you over time.
- No full IP addresses in analytics. We read your approximate country and region, then discard the address.
- Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals are respected: when your browser sends one, we do not record analytics for your visit.
- Bots and our own staff are filtered out of the numbers.
- Necessary cookies only in the portal: sign-in, security and your display preferences.
- Cloudflare Web Analytics may also count visits to layerpod.com without cookies.
[Lawyer: if a store later turns on the optional first-party analytics cookie, add a cookie notice and update this section.]
Who we share information with
We share information only with service providers that help us run LayerPod, under contracts that limit their use of it, and when the law requires it.
| Provider | What they do for us | What they receive |
|---|---|---|
| [DigitalOcean] | Hosts the portal and databases | All account and order data, stored on our servers |
| Cloudflare | Network, security, website hosting and visit counts | Request details passing through their network |
| [Cloudflare Pages Functions] | [Small programs on Cloudflare that forward layerpod.com waitlist sign-ups and page-view counts to our servers] | [The sign-up or page view, with your IP address, browser and approximate country, which our servers use as described above and do not keep in analytics] |
| Backblaze B2 | Stores product images and model files | Images and model files |
| [Brevo] | Sends emails | Your name, email and the email's content |
| [PayPal / payment provider] | Takes payments and sends payouts | Payment and payout details |
| Anthropic | Writes product descriptions when you use "Write with AI" | The product details you submit, not your contact details |
| [Shipping carriers] | Deliver orders | Buyer name, shipping address and phone |
| Printing partners | Make and ship some orders on our behalf | Order contents, model files for those orders, buyer name, shipping address and phone |
If LayerPod is sold or merged, information may transfer to the new owner under this policy. [Lawyer: add law-enforcement and legal-process wording.]
How long we keep information

| Rejected-upload records | 30 days |
| Email log | 90 days |
| Waitlist entries | [Until you are invited or ask us to remove you, then [N months]] |

Security
We encrypt connections, store passwords hashed and account holders' addresses and phone numbers encrypted, require two-factor sign-in for staff, keep the admin area off the public internet, and log access to sensitive actions. No system is perfectly secure; we will notify you of a breach as the law requires.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, download or delete your information, or object to how we use it. Email [privacy@layerpod.com]; we reply within [30] days. Some information must be kept for tax, payout and legal reasons. California residents have the rights described in the CCPA, and people in the EU and UK have rights under the GDPR. [Lawyer: confirm the regions to cover and the legal bases.]
Children
LayerPod is not for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes
We post changes on this page with a new effective date. For important changes, we email account holders and may ask you to accept them again.
